There's only so much that you can learn from a talk or a training course. Sometimes you need someone to guide you along the way to developing your photographic skills. This is where the APG Mentoring Program comes in....
Clare gained a Fellowship of the Royal Photographic Society in 2014 and was presented with the Bill Wisden Award for the best submission. Her work is represented in galleries in the UK.
Neil has been photographing for more years than he cares to remember and after making every error in the book he has learned from his mistakes. Neil is one of the founder members of the APG.
In short - the APG Mentoring Program is as much as you want it to be!
We are offering a bespoke, one-to-one mentoring, support and coaching service to help you to develop your photography skills however you want. The structure and content of the programme will be determined by you, but will also be based on our suggestions to improve your photography.
The Program is flexible in terms of how you use the time and can cover any subject area you want, including:
Together, we will create a long term plan, which will give you a clear vision for how you need to improve your photography, and short term achievable goals so you can see your progression.
A portfolio review is a session during which a mentor reviews a photographer’s images selection.
A guidance session is a session during which a mentor works together with the photographer to step back on where he/she is at right now in his photographic journey what choices are available to him/her and what decisions he/she should be making about his/her practice and evolution.
The photographer is invited to write a description text about himself and what he is expecting from the guidance session. This helps the mentor to understand in advance what are the photographer’s expectations for the review.
If you are interested in the Program, use the contact form below to get in touch and we will email you a questionnaire for you to complete.
The questionnaire is designed to help you express what you would like to gain from the Program and to tell us something about your photographic practice. Once you have completed your questionnaire, email it to us. We will then be in touch to discuss a start date and to provide you with the payment details.
This particular activity is not covered by your membership and there is a fee that you will need to pay before we proceed any further. It is not a high amount in comparison with what you would pay on the open market. In fact we are sure you will think it provides great value for money.
The Program starts with the critique session of 20 of your recent images so that we can assess the level of your technical and artistic skills. We won’t pull any punches, but we will be open, honest, fair and constructive in our assessment of your work. We will offer opinions about your work, but remember that they are only our opinions. What counts is what you think about your work and, with at in mind, we will encourage you to be your own harshest critic.
Once we have your completed questionnaire and have review your initial set of images we can start working with you to develop your Mentoring Program Plan. Once you are happy, the learning begins.
