'Talking Pictures' is a monthly online programme where we critique images made by APG members.
It is unlikely that your photography will improve without some external influence. This is where 'Talking Pictures' comes in. From 2023 this session will be where we provide a constructive critique to images provided by APG members. The aim is to go well beyond the typical "Great capture", "Nice", "Love it" and offer real feedback about images.
The idea behind the photo is the basis from which all of the photographer's decisions flow. A weak or poorly thought through idea will, in most cases, lead to a weak photograph, regardless of how well the image was shot or processed.
So in these sessions we will look at three things: the photographer's rationale for making the image, the RAW file and the processed image. We will take a deep dive into the idea behind the image and the composition and discuss where the photographer was successful and where further work, or an alternative approach, might have been appropriate.
Talking Pictures is for all levels of photographer from novice through to expert, who want to develop their picture sense and create better work in the future.
Each session will last an hour and will take place on the fourth Monday of the month at 8pm on Zoom. All APG members will be asked to submit work.
