'Talking Pictures' is a monthly online programme to be hosted by Clare Acford and Neil Phillips, where they will explore how to develop a sense for what makes a good picture.
In addition to our excellent fortnightly meetings, with their speakers, image reviews and members’ presentations, our Monday Livestreams are now up and running as part of our training programme. I hope the approach of demonstrating post processing techniques and the thought processes involved will help all of you who attend to see the opportunities for enhancing your photos. Yet, without having photos with the potential to make good final images, your new found post processing skills may be wasted. That is where ‘Talking Pictures’, a further extension to our training programme, may help.
Talking Pictures is a monthly online programme where we will explore how to develop a sense for what makes a good picture. We will focus on finding and pre-visualising images, composition, telling stories with your work and deciding how to realise your final images. We will also discuss the works of other photographers to attempt to understand what makes them work: their meaning, design and processing. The aim is for you to recognise what makes a good picture, before even picking up your camera. In fact cameras and post processing are irrelevant when it comes to talking pictures, as what we will be discussing is just as relevant to many different forms of art.
Talking Pictures is for all levels of photographer from novice through to expert, who want to develop their picture sense and explore different aspect of creating pictures
Each session will take place on the fourth Monday of the month at 8pm on Zoom. All APG members will be notified of the topic for each session and the required Zoom link.
